Official "Text Recognition Free Allowance" (last updated 2026-09-16) verbatim: after you first activate Tencent Cloud text recognition (OCR), the free resource pack for each API is issued automatically, one time only, for test calls. 1. General text recognition, ID card and certificate text recognition, invoice and receipt recognition, scenario-specific recognition, document intelligence, text image enhancement, and QR code and barcode recognition and some other services come with a free call allowance of 1,000 calls / month once activated, issued automatically as a free resource pack on the 1st of every month and valid for that month only; if you activate several APIs that belong to the same shared resource pack, they share the same 1,000 calls / month. 2. VAT invoice verification gives a 50-call free resource pack after first activation, claimable only 1 time per user, valid for 5 years. 3. Merchant storefront photo recognition, merchant photo classification, general ID anti-forgery, document extraction (Multimodal Pro / Agent edition), Chinese and English handwritten essay recognition, formula recognition, exam question recognition, and others give a 1000-call free resource pack after first activation, claimable only 1 time per user, valid for 1 year. 4. ⚠️The official doc warns: if an account has not used OCR products for 1 year, the system suspends the monthly free-allowance issuance on the 1st; accounts that stay idle for a long time should go by the "Notes" section on the official page. Which shared resource pack each API's free allowance belongs to is as stated on the official page. Beyond the free allowance, usage is billed pay-as-you-go, so watch the postpaid switch in the console to avoid accidental bills. Activating cloud products in the Tencent Cloud console usually requires real-name verification.
