Google Cloud Translation: 500,000 Free Characters per Month (Basic and Advanced Combined)

The first 500,000 characters of text translation each month are free (granted as a $10 monthly credit; does not roll over)

Official pricing page: "First 500,000 characters per month: Free (applied as $10 credit every month)". The footnote says the credit is capped at $10, applied against actual usage, does not roll over, and is shared by Cloud Translation Basic and Advanced; it does not apply to formatted document translations. Billable characters include whitespace and untranslated characters, e.g. <p>Hello</p> counts as 12 characters. Usage beyond the credit is billed.

⚠️Google Cloud requires a project with a billing account (credit card) enabled, and usage beyond the free credit is charged automatically, so set a budget alert and API quota cap in the console. Users in mainland China need a proxy for the console and API. The allowance is a $10 credit rather than a fixed character count (the official example is 500,000 characters); if prices change, the official pricing page prevails.
