Official pricing page (Pay as You Go table): "Free - Web/Container: All, 0 - 500 pages free per month". The footnote says the free instance does not support premium features and does not include the Query Meter. Beyond that, the S0 tier bills about $1.50 per 1,000 pages for Read, about $10 per 1,000 pages for Layout and all prebuilt models, and about $30 per 1,000 pages for custom extraction.
You need an Azure subscription, and signing up for Azure usually requires a credit card for identity verification. The free instance excludes add-ons such as high resolution, font and formula, and has no Query Fields. The pricing page does not say whether a used-up free instance is throttled or rolls over to paid billing, so choose the Free tier when creating the resource and set a budget alert in the console.
