This free tier, launched in early 2026, covers all major JetBrains IDEs on version 2025.1+ (excluding Android Studio and the Community edition), and supports connecting local models for unlimited completion and chat. Cutting-edge cloud models (GPT-5, Claude 4.5, etc.) and Junie/Claude Agent aren't included in the free tier — only 3 cloud credits every 30 days are set aside for light trial use. First-time use also grants a 30-day AI Pro trial (a higher cloud quota), which automatically reverts to the free tier upon expiry.

⚠️The core value of 'free' here is local models and local completion; the quota for cutting-edge cloud models is small enough to be almost symbolic — heavy use of cloud features requires upgrading to Pro.
